Creating experiences from experience

50 years of experience means we focus on customer engagement without losing sight of operational efficiency. As a full-service firm, we guide our clients through the entire design process from idea to functioning space. When we need a hand, we call on a proven collective of professionals in the areas of graphics and branding, artistry, architecture and engineering to assist in delivering complete projects that are elegant and intelligent.

Josh Nathanson, NCIDQ / Principal

Josh has been part of MND for over 20 years. He designs, directs and oversees many of the projects within the office and plays an integral role in managing the firm.

After graduation from Rhode Island School of Design, Josh spent 4 years as an “in house” associate designer for the Uno Restaurant Corporation. The position afforded him rare insight into the hospitality industry — from an operational standpoint — while he continued to learn and perfect his design craft. Since joining MND, Josh’s expertise has been a critical ingredient in projects ranging from Euro Disney and Royal Caribbean International to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and Johnny Rockets.

Well versed in fine dining design, Josh’s focus has been in the area of full-service casual and quick casual design. With an abiding love and interest in “mid-century modern” American design, Josh has developed a particular focus on reinventing the “diner” for the 21st century.

John Bell / Principal

John joined MND in 2013 and, along with Josh, plays an essential role designing, overseeing projects and managing the firm.

John’s extensive design background started out with staged events for theater productions and corporate functions. Once he received his theater design degree from San Diego State University, John spent a number of years in the San Francisco bay area working on projects for companies like Lucas Films and the city’s premier Black and White Ball.

For the last 13 years, John has been living and working in New England. His experience in theater shapes a unique perspective and approach to hospitality design, allowing him to quickly relate to any client’s vision. John’s list of successful projects include simple quick casual eateries, high-end country clubs, salons and fine dining restaurants.
